The Obsession With Natural Hair

Ever since I've decided to wear my natural hair, I have been met with adversity and some positivity. My own family has even questioned my decision to do so making ignorant comments, as if this is not the hair that grows from my scalp. Isn't it more ridiculous to buy hair when I have a full head of thick, healthy hair. What is the obsession?
Another thing that really bugs me is the fact that people of different races, constantly look at my head as if I am a creature of another planet. Really? Have you never seen hair before? Some even get the urge to reach out and touch it, without permission at that. Clearly that is a violation of my personal space. At this point I am really offended and baffled by the audacity of some people. It's just hair, yours is fine and thin sometimes dull and lifeless. Mine is thick and soft like cotton balls and reaches up to sky in a fro, get over it.
I had an interview the other day and I mentioned to someone that I didn't think it went well. Their first response was... "How did you wear your hair?" Really? Are you kidding me? Is my hair qualified to do the work or am I? I would hope that we are evolved enough as a society to not judge someone by the color of their skin much less their hair. The thought is simply ridiculous. I will continue to shock the masses by wearing the hair that grows naturally from my scalp.  Right fist in the air.

How to Combat Dry Natural Hair

Instagram

D.I.Y AVOCADO MOISTURE MASQUE

The one thing I hate the most is dry brittle hair. Not moisturizing your hair well enough can cause brittleness and breakage. I struggle with dry hair because I don't like to put a lot of things in my hair. I have learned that oils alone do not moisturize, so about once a month I do an at home avocado mask to restore moisture to my hair if i feel its a little dried out.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
2 Small avocados or 1 large one (depending on how thick your hair is)
2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin
2 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil or both
2 tablespoons of jojoba oil

I put all my ingredients in a blender and until there are no lumps. Then I apply it to damp hair. I proceed to shampoo and deep condition afterward. You absolutely must shampoo the avocado out of your hair. This should really help because avocados are packed with vitamins, minerals and fats that will restore moisture to your hair.

Nappy Life News: TSA Pats Down a Natural Sisters Hair

I recently came across a video of a natural sister who was angry that she was singled out and searched because of her hair which was in a high bun and natural at the time. Check out the video below. There is nothing on the Transportation Security Administration website that states how one should wear his or her hair. There is a policy on head covering but is hair really considered head covering, and shouldn't everyone with hair and high ponytails have been searched if that were the case. Clearly this young woman was singled out. Feel free to give us your thoughts in the comments sections.
